Happy 80th Birthday Gam Gam!

Today is my fabulous grandmother's 80th birthday. She goes by grandma, but got the nickname Gam Gam as a joke a few years ago. She is a precious southern lady that loves flowers and birds. She always makes me laugh!

Now back to work on my assignment from mom for her birthday party- a fabulous homemade photo video collage. I swear, I have this down after making so many for funerals/birthdays for both mine and Zach's family. 

The scanner and old photos are calling my name :)

getting organized

I am really good at making to do list.
I am really good at saying and thinking about all the ways I want to organize a room.
I am not good at getting a jump start on organizing and getting the desired end point accomplished. No matter how many Real Simple articles I read, I just can't get off to a good start. My reasons so far are this:

1. I have yet to buy everything I need all at once. I am a nibbler. I buy a little here and there. 
2. I am indecisive and change my plan a lot.
3. Space is limited and I can't make up my mind how to best utilize it. 

Since I now work from home, I spend an increased amount of time here. Therefore keeping a tidy and organized house is key.

For now, I have set my sights on 2 areas in our home.
1. Bathroom - I am determined to have immaculate counters, with organized make-up drawers and neat storage in the cabinets. And that linen closet will be in amazing order. But then I can't decide which draw organizer, which shelf to put which towels on. Do I want to separate old and new towels or mix them together...or would organizing by color be better. I believe I am beginning to drive Zach crazy with these changes.

I would also love to be able to somehow hang/organize the hair dryer and straightener as the cords on the counter are getting to me.

2. Closets! I need an organized closet. I one day will have an immaculate custom built closet. One day when I am old and Zach has designed the house that will take him 20 years to perfect the design on. Until then, I am left to deal with apartment built ins. Therefore, I need to utilize my space. I am rather annoyed by the hanging shoe rack on the door. But alas, where else should they go? I hate my mismatched hangers, but hopefully we can sort those out little by little. I am realizing I may be a little OCD but lack the patience to really resolve the issues at hand. (I believe that is commonly referred to as ADD)

I have to realize this... I have only been in the apartment for one week now. I have barely unpacked everything (trust me that alone was a feat). I have to decided to live in it a little while and then see what changes are needed to perfect the organization of these to areas.

For now, I will continue my reading and studying here. And searching for the perfect tools here.
